Family made, family focused.
Family… the ones who love us unconditionally, walk beside us, make memories with us, and forever touch our hearts.
Meet Dr. Kayleigh Mahony
Dr. Kayleigh graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 2019, immediately moving out west to Alberta following her long standing dream. Being a lover of all animals big and small, she aspired to mixed animal veterinary medicine work, and joined the team at Mayerthorpe Veterinary Services.
In 2021, she made the decision to move to Edmonton, leaving mixed animal medicine for a season, to seize the opportunities offered. With these opportunities, Dr. Kayleigh continues to develop skills in a variety of areas, including expanding her exotic medicine work, and further developing and expanding skills in one of her main areas of passion; surgery.
Now, continuing to work in clinical practice, Dr. Kayleigh has adjusted her focus, becoming a locum veterinarian. This allows her to best help a variety of clinics during this veterinary shortage. Simultaneously providing time to devote towards another major passion; helping families and their pets through the difficulties of end of life decisions and saying goodbye.
Dr. Kayleigh is known for showing exemplary compassion and support to families during this difficult moment, and understands the importance of celebrating a wonderful life spent together, while also ensuring peace and dignity during the moment of passing. She feels this is the unsung heroic aspect of being a pet owner - to be there for them in their final moments just as you are there for them through all their firsts.
As heartbreaking as these moments are, Dr. Kayleigh sees it as a privilege to be trusted to provide as much love, dignity, peace, and release from pain as possible for each and every animal in these moments. It is a privilege to offer every animal a final thank you for giving so much unconditional love throughout their life shared with your family.
In loving memory of our beautiful girlie,
Shaska
Always smiling. Always with us. Loved with all our heart.
All Your Heart Veterinary Service is inspired by, and dedicated in memory of, our beautiful and beloved Shaska, who we had to say goodbye to in Oct 2023.
In her 13 years, Shaska (meaning star, for the full 5 point star on her chest), went from an energetic, adventurous and wild puppy, to a sweet, gentle and always still independent girlie. She touched the hearts of many in her calmer adult years, working with St. John Ambulance as a therapy dog. Shaska absolutely loved her job, sharing her special head hugs and calm sweet presence with everyone, whether children in a reading program, university students at exam de-stress events, or brightening the days of people also in their calmer twilight years while visiting nursing homes and care facilities.
Shaska had been with our family through many new adventures, it was both very difficult and very special to say goodbye after so many treasured memories together. For the past few years, every day had been a gift after we determined Shaska had a growth in her abdomen. She retired from St. John’s Ambulance, but never really missed a step, always still her happy, smiling self. We kept treasuring each day, providing all the comfort and medical support we could, while quietly preparing our hearts to say goodbye when the time came.
Our intention was to say goodbye as a family at home, a last little moment together to say thank you for the amazing life we’ve shared. Of course, things don’t always go as planned - our family said goodbye at a 24 hr emergency veterinary clinic, and we are very thankful for the care and support we were given. These events did help stimulate Dr. Kayleigh to do something for other families who may want to make this choice to be together at home when the time comes, and to help make it available to as many families as possible. And so, All Your Heart Vet Services was born. Since they truly never leave our hearts, and they fill our whole life with love while they’re with us.
